What isAlma-Q Laser?
Alma-Q is a professional Q-switched Nd:YAG laser platform developed by Alma Lasers, a manufacturer of aesthetic and medical laser systems. It uses two wavelengths, 1064 nm and 532 nm, to target different types of pigment. The manufacturer states that the system is CE-marked and FDA-cleared.
Its short pulses act on pigment particles, which the body gradually clears over time. At THE FAME, a clinician first assesses the skin and the pigment to decide whether treatment is suitable; the approach and number of sessions depend on the pigment and the individual skin response.

Laser tattoo removal
Alma-Q can treat tattoos on suitable areas of the body, from small designs to larger pieces. The laser breaks tattoo pigment into smaller particles, which the body gradually clears. Several sessions are usually needed; the number depends on the tattoo’s size, colours, ink density, depth, age and location.
Some inks are more resistant than others, and residual pigment or changes in skin colour may remain.
Pigmentation treatment
Alma-Q may be considered for selected pigmentation concerns, such as sun spots, age spots and some forms of uneven skin tone. A clinician assesses the cause and depth of the pigmentation before recommending treatment.
Melasma needs particular care: it can recur, and laser treatment may worsen it in some cases.
Permanent makeup removal
Alma-Q can be used to remove eyebrow tattoo or lighten it before a correction. Depending on the goal, treatment may soften sharp edges or reduce an overly dark or block-like appearance.
Cosmetic pigments may change colour during laser treatment, so the clinician assesses the pigment and discusses the approach beforehand.
Results fromthe clinic.
Outcomes depend on the pigment, the treatment area and individual skin response. Several sessions are usually needed, and traces of pigment or changes in skin colour may remain. Individual results vary and cannot be guaranteed.

Alma-Q LaserHow it works.
Nanosecond laser pulses create a photoacoustic effect that breaks pigment into smaller particles rather than relying on prolonged heating. The body gradually clears these particles over the following weeks.
This gradual process is why treatments are usually spaced out, allowing the skin to recover between sessions.

“With pigmentation the temptation is always to push the energy. I work in gentler, more frequent passes — especially with melasma, where aggressive settings can make the pigment rebound worse than it started.”
